AN OLD BLUES AND SILLY PUNK-ROCK SONG BY CAIO FERN, 2012.

an old blues and silly punk-rock song by Caio Fern, 2012.

Do you know when you see those rockers from 50’s, 60’s, 70’s… that have a very well defined style but on one song or two decide to visit their origins and compose a blues? Or the 90’s composers doing the same with punk-rock? This is how I feel all the time I decide to paint visiting this expressionist style. Let’s be sincere, these are my roots, expressionism from Munch to the first generation of german expressionism and then Baselitz were the first inspiration of my life. So from times to times I paint these old values and feel like home.
I remember the first time I saw an Edvard Munch exhibition, I wasn’t painting at that time yet. I spent the first day looking to the works for 5 hours. The security team got a bit concerned and started to stay near me with radios communicating about my moves, hahah!!! On the next day I went there again and spent more 7 hours. I memorized every single brush stroke of all his works in the 3 rooms it was exhibited.
In 1999 I painted a lot what could be considered expressionist art, but there it already had my own style in bloom. (check the 1999 paintings here :http://silentspots.blogspot.com/2009/10/1999-acrylic-on-canvas-by-caio.html).
So here it is: an old blues by Caio. Or silly punk-rock by Fern. You choose.

It is weird, on my last works it has been very hard to paint and keep my mind calm, I’ve been attacked by memories and even strange thoughts of rage and violent ways to deal with horrible feelings. But at the end I solve everything in my mind and chest, I forgive all that was done and clear my mind from the internal hell. It releases me. So my last paintings have been like exercises of personal freedom where I dig out all the hidden hounds and ghosts, fight with then, heal, forgive and get rid of. Hope for ever.
